StoryShards — one jigsaw a day, and the next chapter of the story opens

The illustrations and the story in StoryShards were both created with generative AI, then reviewed and edited by a human before release. All characters, places and events are fictional. The blocks below say the same thing at more length, in English and Japanese; the short form also appears inside the app under Settings > About.

How this was made

The illustrations

The 130 chapter illustrations — which are also the jigsaw pictures — are original artwork created with generative AI (image generation), in a single style chosen for this season and held to it across the whole run. They are not photographs, and they do not depict real places, buildings or people.

Every image was reviewed by a human before it shipped: for style consistency with the rest of the season, for readability as a jigsaw, and for whether it actually shows what its chapter is about. Images that failed were regenerated or dropped. No image is used that a person has not looked at.

挿画について

130点の章の挿画（そのままジグソーの絵でもあります）は、生成AI（画像生成）を用いて制作したオリジナル作品です。このシーズンのために選んだひとつの画風を、全編にわたって保つ形で制作しています。写真ではなく、実在の場所・建物・人物を描いたものでもありません。

すべての画像は、公開前に人の目で確認しています——シーズン全体との画風の一貫性、ジグソーとしての解きやすさ、そしてその章の内容を実際に表しているか。基準に届かなかったものは作り直すか、採用を見送りました。人が見ていない画像は1枚も使っていません。

The story

The text of the story was also created with generative AI, and then reviewed and edited by a human before release. That review covered continuity across the season — who knows what, on which day, and in what order — as well as the language itself, and the Japanese text was checked as a translation of the English original rather than accepted as generated.

We say this plainly because we would rather you heard it from us than guessed at it. It is not a selling point and we do not present it as one; what is on offer is the story and the daily puzzle, and you can read the first chapter for free and judge it yourself.

物語について

物語の本文も生成AIで制作し、公開前に人の手で確認・編集しています。確認したのは、シーズン全体を通した整合——誰が・何日目に・何を知っているか、その順序——と、文章そのものです。日本語は、生成されたまま採用するのではなく、英語原文の翻訳として検品しています。

これをはっきり書くのは、あとから推測されるより、こちらから申し上げたいからです。売り文句にするつもりはなく、そのように掲げてもいません。お渡ししているのは物語と毎日のパズルであり、第1章は無料でお読みいただけます。判断はそちらでどうぞ。

Fiction, and nothing behind it

Quillet Isle, its lighthouse, its village and everyone in the letters are invented. Nothing in the season describes a real person, a real organisation, a real event or a real place, and no real person's name, likeness or writing is used. Any resemblance is coincidental.

StoryShards is a game and a piece of fiction. It gives no factual, historical, navigational, medical or legal information, and nothing in it should be relied on as such.

すべて架空であること

クィレット島も、その灯台も、集落も、手紙に出てくる人物も、すべて創作です。実在の人物・団体・出来事・場所を描いたものではなく、実在の人物の氏名・肖像・著作を使用してもいません。似ている点があったとしても偶然です。

StoryShards はゲームであり、フィクションです。事実・歴史・航行・医療・法律に関する情報を提供するものではなく、そのように利用されることを想定していません。

Text and data in the app

No external sources are quoted

The season quotes no external text and reproduces no third-party work. There is no licensed dataset behind it, so there is nothing here to attribute — if that changes in a future season, the attribution will be added to this page before the season ships.

The story text ships inside the app and can be corrected without an App Store update, through a small correction file served from this site. A correction only ever replaces text in an existing chapter; it cannot add, remove or reorder chapters. If you find a typo or a line that reads wrong, Support has the address.

外部の出典を引用していません

本シーズンは外部のテキストを引用しておらず、第三者の著作物を転載してもいません。ライセンスを受けたデータセットも背後にないため、ここに記載すべき帰属はありません。将来のシーズンでこれが変わる場合は、配信前にこのページへ帰属表示を追加します。

物語のテキストはアプリに同梱されていますが、このサイトから配信する小さな訂正ファイルによって、App Store の更新を待たずに訂正できます。訂正でできるのは既存の章のテキストの差し替えだけで、章の追加・削除・並べ替えはできません。誤字や読みのおかしい箇所にお気づきの場合は、サポートに連絡先があります。

Third-party software

Open-source and SDKs

The app uses RevenueCat (purchases-ios) to manage purchases. RevenueCat is provided under the MIT License.

The app also uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK and the Google User Messaging Platform SDK, provided by Google under their own terms.

Everything else — the jigsaw cutting, the board, the reader, the sync — is written for this app. It uses no external font, audio or icon assets: the type is the system font, and the app plays no sound.

オープンソース・SDK について

本アプリは、購入管理に RevenueCat（purchases-ios）を利用しています。RevenueCat は MIT License のもとで提供されています。

また、Google Mobile Ads SDK および Google User Messaging Platform SDK を、Google の定める条件のもとで利用しています。

それ以外——ジグソーの切り出し、盤面、リーダー、同期——は本アプリのために書いたものです。外部のフォント・音源・アイコン素材は使用しておらず、書体はシステムフォント、音は鳴りません。
